Các chương trình hành động của Đoàn tham gia vận động nhân dân chấp hành thực hiện các dự án trên địa bàn quận, hoạt động “Cải thiện môi trường” thường xuyên tổ chức ra quân giải quyết các điểm tồn đọng rác, ô nhiễm môi trường, trồng cây xanh tạo cảnh quan và bóng mát tại các sân chơi và tuyên truyền, thành lập các đội hình tình nguyện phòng chống dịch bệnh, vận động nhân dân hiến đất mở đường.</span></div>

Công tác đảm bảo an sinh xã hội gắn với việc thực hiện tốt Nghị quyết 11/NQ-CP được tổ chức hiệu quả: tổ chức bán hàng bình ổn giá tại 16 phường; phát động đoàn viên, thanh niên và gia đình thực hiện “30 phút tiết kiệm” hàng ngày; vận động 100 chủ nhà trọ không tăng giá cho thuê và giá điện, nước; tổ chức các Sàn giao dịch việc làm, xây dựng nhà tình thương, vận động chăm lo cho hộ nghèo… đã góp phần ổn định đời sống cho người dân, đặc biệt là công nhân có hoàn cảnh khó khăn.</span></div>

Công tác chăm lo, giáo dục thanh niên chậm tiến trên địa bàn được thực hiện tốt với việc phối hợp tổ chức dạy văn hoá, dạy nghề chăm sóc sức khỏe; tập huấn các kỹ năng cần thiết cho thanh niên, giới thiệu vay vốn làm kinh tế nhỏ, giới thiệu học nghề, việc làm. Điểm sáng trong nhiệm kỳ là “Quỹ đồng hành cùng thanh niên” với tổng vốn của nguồn quỹ là 80 triệu đồng, đến cuối nhiệm kỳ tăng lên 141 triệu đồng. </span></div>

Đại hội đã thảo luận, thông qua phương hướng nhiệm kỳ mới, trong đó tiếp tục thực hiện Chung sức trẻ xây dựng Quận 8 văn minh, hiện đại; thực hiện 3 công trình thanh niên và 15 chỉ tiêu công tác tác Đoàn. Ba công trình thanh niên là: thành lập Văn phòng hướng nghiệp, dạy nghề và giới thiệu việc làm thanh niên Quận 8; xây dựng, duy trì và tổ chức hoạt động có hiệu quả 5 điểm “Vui chơi giải trí cho thanh thiếu nhi” trên địa bàn quận; vận động các nguồn lực xã hội và sự tham gia của đoàn viên để hỗ trợ 500 thẻ bảo hiểm y tế cho dân nghèo và thanh thiếu niên có hoàn cảnh khó khăn trên địa bàn. </span></div>

Trong 15 chỉ tiêu của nhiệm kỳ mới, đáng chú ý có các chỉ tiêu tìm nguồn vốn 30 tỷ đồng cho thanh niên vay, giới thiệu việc làm cho 10.000 thanh niên, xây dựng 10 căn nhà tình bạn, 50 khu phố, hẻm sạch đẹp...</span></div>

Đại hội đã bầu Ban Chấp hành Quận Đoàn khóa X (2012 - 2017) gồm 27 đồng chí, bầu 8 đại đại biểu chính thức và 2 đại biểu dự khuyết dự Đại hội Đại biểu Đoàn TNCS Hồ Chí Minh TP.HCM lần IX. Đồng chí Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa tái đắc cử Bí thư Quận đoàn 8, đồng chíc Nguyễn Hữu Ngọc tái đắc cử Phó bí thư thường trực Quận đoàn 8, đồng chí Vũ Yến Oanh tái đắc cử Phó Bí thư Quận đoàn 8.</span></div>
